The Veteran of the Month page is here to recognize a Pittsburgh Veteran who has also accomplished a significant level of success in the community.
Those veterans selected for recognition will have their photo and bio posted on this page, as well as be presented with an award on behalf of the Pittsburgh Veteran Community.

Veteran of the Month
Shawn D. Bowers
Army Bio:
Shawn joined the PA Army National Guard in January 2000, as a Senior in high school. He chose to pursue a MOS of 91B (Combat Medic), and after basic and AIT training he joined C Co. 228th FSB in Pittsburgh, where he was attending college. In June 2004, Shawn was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III.
In Iraq, Shawn served as lead field medic providing support for a company of combat engineers, and scout reconnaissance team. He participated in more than 400 combat missions, in addition to training fellow soldiers in battlefield medicine.
Deloitte Bio:
Following his return from OIF III, and completion of a Business Administration and Economics degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Shawn began his professional career at Deloitte Consulting LLP in February 2007.
After 5 years with the firm, Shawn currently works as a Senior Consultant, focusing on large scale public sector technology engagements. He currently works at his project site in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, but maintains a residence in Pittsburgh.
Shawn cites the leadership, teamwork, and problem solving skills he developed in the military as key factors that helped him obtain his position working for the world’s largest management consulting firm.
